Hey, I'm Kayla!

I just completed my practicum here at Luna Counselling and wellness, and have joined the team as a MSW clinical social worker!

Before this, I completed my Bachelor of Recreation at Memorial University in St. John's in 2014 and a Bachelor of Social Work in 2022 from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, where I developed a passion for helping those who have experienced mental health issues throughout their lifespan.

I have worked over a decade in non-profit organizations, and gained valuable experiences with women experiencing trauma and homelessness, as well as a passion for providing services to those with disabilities.

I am also a trained postpartum doula, so I have plenty of experience supporting mothers in the postpartum period, with concerns such as infant feeding and sleep.

I’m dedicated to supporting women through their unique journeys of self-discovery, relationships, and parenting.

As Audre Lorde beautifully expressed, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation.” Seeking help is a courageous step, whether it’s your first time or you’ve been here before.

In our sessions, you’ll find a safe, empathetic space where your experiences are validated, and we can work together to develop personalized strategies for navigating life's challenges. Remember, you are not alone, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Kayla is not currently accepting new clients. Please email admin@lunacounselling.ca to be added to her waitlist.

Kayla's Services

Kayla's lived experience with a disability has provided her with a unique perspective and shapes how she approaches her practice from a holistic, integrative lens that looks at the person as a whole. Through her journey in motherhood, she realized the need within her community for maternal mental services. She is pursuing her degree to provide the women, children, and families within her community with the best possible care. Kayla is trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and will be taking the Perinatal Mental Health basic training from Postpartum Support International at the beginning of her practicum.

Kayla has a Bachelor of Recreation, a Bachelor of Social Work, and is finishing up her Master of Social Work with us. She is also trained as a postpartum doula, with extra training in lactation support. Kayla has applied suicide intervention training and mental health first aid.
